A string guy since age four, Josh has spent his life immersed in various aspects of music and music industry. Starting on guitar and working through a variety of instruments he found an affinity for the mandolin.
Spending his teens and early twenties working in a record store and going to concerts, Josh changed pace when he went to luithery school to study guitar repair and construction. He currently runs a luithery business in Sioux Falls, SD. He also studied music formally on the collegiate level earningbachelor’s and master’s degrees in double bass performance. You can catch him performing in a variety of settings from jazz to Snakebeard throughout the Midwest.
As a folk lover, quick picker and educated theorist, Josh has the skills to bring sweet syncopation and smooth lines intoSBJ’s driving instrumental texture.
